MEDIA RELEASE: Hyper Island Students available for Internships

Hyper Island is a school well known for their successful teaching methods and the high quality of the students that enter the workforce as a result. Their motto is pretty simple - learning by doing. It's by no means a conventional learning method, as there are no teachers, no books and no tests, but it has proven to be effective in developing a calibre of digital media professional sought after worldwide.

Mind you, it's not an easy task being accepted into one of their courses in the first place. You need to have worked in the industry for a number of years and/or have completed a corresponding course at one of the other highly regarded schools, as well as go through multiple rounds of selection testing.

Hyper Island has a large contingency of international students with over 16 countries represented and the number is growing. As are their offices. Starting out in Karlskrona in Sweden, they've since opened schools at Stockholm, London and New York to name a few. The reason for expansion is that the demand for these students is high.  Past graduates have gone on to work for the likes of Spotify, W+K, Droga 5, IDEO, Blast Radius, DDB and Ebay amongst others.

The founders of Hyper Island have said that one of the reasons behind their success is that they keep their finger on the pulse. They make it their business to know what changes are ocurring in the digital landscape and then provide skills training in areas that otherwise would have talent shortages. This works well both for the individuals and the industry - it's a win win situation.

People don't leave Hyper Island with redundant education – they step out with a solid generalist knowledge base, skills in the most current software packages & techniques around leadership, group work and project management, rich in innovative ideas and a hunger for challenge.

The ex and current students alike often actively maintain both personal & professional relationships with eachother, as a strong sense of identity comes with being part of the Hyper Island community. For this reason, the network is extensive, spanning the globe and providing opportunity in various capacities.

Top agencies are already putting a call out to students from Interactive Art Direction, Motion Graphics, Ecommerce and Digital Media courses to get them onboard for their internships both now and in March. Australia has however fallen short on becoming a destination for these students, as there has been less knowledge of the school there and hence, the strong reputation elsewhere, such as in New York, holds more value. 

It's time that the Australian digital industry also take advantage of this opportunity and add to their already strong contingency of talent with some inspired minds from abroad.
