Join in the 'iClean Up'. Clean Up Australia launches iPhone app.

Clean Up Australia Day turns 21 this year. To celebrate, Clean Up Australia has launched their first-ever iPhone App! The Clean Up Australia Day iPhone app is encouraging tech-savvy volunteers to share their experiences online and encourage other Australians to do their bit for the nation's largest community participation event.

The app’s features allow users to find their nearest Clean Up Site, share photos and results through email and social media platforms and view the results of last year’s Clean Up Australia Day Rubbish Report at the touch of their finger tips.
 
Location driven: the app uses geo-location to allow the user to find their nearest site using Google Maps (based on postcode or suburb search) and provides details including time and meeting point.
 
Sociability: the app lets users share photos from their Clean Up Day experience – by uploading to Facebook pages, emailing to friends or emailing to the Clean Up Australia Day photo competition.
 
Rating: Users can answer a mini survey to update Clean Up Australia about their site, The interactive survey includes such questions as most common item picked up, strangest item found and number of bags of recycling filled on the day.
 
Data: the app provides access to data from the 2010 Rubbish Report, including rubbish by type, historical comparison, interesting items and number of volunteers per state. The report is a sample study of Australia’s waste broken down in a state by state comparative analysis.
