The chairman of CareerOne.com.au, Richard Freudenstein, today announced the appointment of Michael Harvey as the companys new chief executive officer. Mr Harvey, currently the companys chief operating officer, succeeds Dr Stephen Hollings who has been appointed director of sales strategy at News Limited. Both appointments are effective from May 1st.
Mr Harvey took up the role as CareerOne’s COO in August 2006, after 11 years with Fox Studios Australia. Having been part of the senior management team that developed the studio from scratch in 1995, he became its chief financial officer in 1997 and chief executive officer in 2001.
As chief executive, Mr Harvey expanded the film studio and helped attract numerous blockbuster productions to the studios including The Matrix trilogy, Star Wars Episodes II and III and Superman Returns.
Mr Freudenstein said “Michael’s experience of the business, together with his finance, operational and strategic skills make him the natural and perfect successor to Stephen.
“In under three years Stephen and Michael have driven the remarkable transformation of CareerOne, rebranding and relaunching the site. Thanks to their outstanding leadership, CareerOne has surged forward, becoming the challenger brand in every state across Australia.
“Now, as part of a joint venture between News Limited and Monster Worldwide, CareerOne is intensifying its challenge to the status quo – something the market has universally welcomed.
“On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Stephen for his significant contribution to the business, and welcome Michael as chief executive.”
Mr Harvey said “Having made some tremendous gains over the past couple years, the deal with Monster has elevated CareerOne to a new level – one where we can provide very serious competition in the market place.
“Our transition onto Monster’s world-class technology platform is well advanced and over the coming months our customers will begin to reap the rewards of our significantly enhanced offering.
“We have a fantastic team here at CareerOne and I look forward to working with them to deliver real value to our customers. CareerOne has a very exciting future ahead of it.”
Mr Harvey will report to the board of CareerOne, which consists of Mr Freudenstein and Sue Klose, both of News Digital Media, and Mark Stoever and Tim Yates from Monster Worldwide.
