Australian Company Release World First Augmented Reality Marketing Application
Insqribe is an Australian owned and developed platform that offers real time proximity marketing via QR codes and Augmented Reality (AR). Marketers can insert their campaigns into the AR world generated by an Insqribe iPhone application and users can see the campaigns appear on their phone as they walk around shopping districts or centres.
The ground breaking system is only available on the iPhone 3GS at the moment but is being developed for other smartphones such as the Blackberry, Google Android and Nokia. The system works using the iPhone 3GS built in compass and video camera. You simply turn on your video camera and hold your iphone up. On the screen you will see offers appear next to shops and outlets in real time.
Marketers can also track the interactions between the users and their campaigns via AR clickthroughs to mobile websites and scans of QR codes via downloadable readers that also use your phones camera to scan a code and deliver you to a mobile website.
"Augmented Reality is the combination of virtual geolocated information and the real-world. Using your mobile phones camera Insqribe overlays Augmented Reality “tags” onto whatever you’re looking at." explains Nick Gonios.
The application has a lot of promising possibilities. You can use the platform to:
- Notify consumers of latest offers as they walk around your shopping district.
- Provide interactive brand engagement using the real world.
- Keep people informed about what is going on in their area.
All consumer behaviour is monitored and tracked using Insqribes real-time proximity marketing platform.

On the other hand, marketing within location aware Apps and games such as Foursquare is brilliant
Hi Pon,
Thanks for your question.
Insqribe allows companies and agencies to create their own Augmented Reality experiences. It works off human behaviours of convenience and impulse. If you're out shopping why wouldn't you pick up your phone to see who has a sale on? It's a social utility for people on the go.
We focus on creating, managing and providing real time analytics from the platform. Previously this was done with QR Codes. Together with Augmented Reality, our approach is to deliver value to brands, publishers at places and space where consumers are.
We don't have an app in the AppStore. We provide the platform for others to integrate AR into their own apps. You'll start seeing these in the AppStore over the coming months.
